Hiking trail maintenance in Val Calanca

Problem: Tall grass and the growth of trees and bushes make walking on mountain trails difficult and dangerous.

Measure : Mow grass and plants along the path and cut and remove any trees or branches that have fallen onto the path and are obstructing the passage.

Method : Mowing with brush cutter and cutting with saw/chainsaw.

Result : ~100 km of safe walkable path.

Ecological added value: Through maintenance, we ensure access to the mountains for alpine herdsmen, forestry teams, and other stakeholders involved in the management of natural habitats at high altitudes. Furthermore, we promote the relationship between people and nature through the influx of tourists onto the Alpine trails and to the mountain huts.

What next ? Maintenance is carried out annually and will also be carried out in 2026.
