Dry meadow maintenance in Roncaia

Problem : The uncontrolled growth and spread of blackberries impairs the ecological functions of the dry meadow.

Action : Cutting and removing the blackberries.

Method : Brambles are uprooted with picks and cut with a brush cutter. The material is transported using tarpaulins and deposited in previously selected piles.

Result : Temporarily cleared of brambles along the edge of the meadow. Allows the meadow to expand.

Ecological added value : The ecological function of the dry meadow is improved and native plant species can grow.

What's next : Continuous measures are needed on the area over several years to prevent the regrowth of blackberries.
