Maintenance of TWW areas in San Bernadino
Realized:
2024
performed by:
Naturnetz Mobil
As part of a larger project to restore dry meadows and pastures of national importance (DWW) in San Bernardino, a former alpine spruce forest was pushed back in order to convert individual areas into dry meadows and pastures. The adjacent primary raised bog is also particularly valuable and will benefit from this intervention.
During this operation, the Ticino site was supported by a group of mobile civil servants who removed the sawdust created by sawing trunks and tree roots from the open area in order to encourage the emerging vegetation.
We are excited to see how the area will develop in the coming years and whether new species will become established.
