The Herrenbergli family garden area is located on the city border with Schlieren, on a north-east facing slope, adjacent to the Schliererberg and, according to the Siegfried map of 1880, has long been used for agricultural purposes.
On behalf of Grün Stadt Zürich, the Nature Network looked after eight standard fruit trees in spring 2016. These had not been properly pruned for several years. A maintenance pruning was therefore urgently needed.
The pruning work was carried out by our trained specialists, and the community service workers were also given an explanation of the most basic rules of pruning fruit trees. The community service workers piled up the resulting branch material in heaps at the edge of the plot for small creatures.
