The Val Malvaglia is a remote side valley in the upper Blenio Valley – characterized by steep slopes, traditional mountain villages and a diverse cultural landscape.
At this altitude, dry stone walls, meadows, forest edges, and pastures alternate in a mosaic-like manner—ideal conditions for numerous bird species, including Whinchat, Garden Warbler, and Tree Pipit . But this structurally rich habitat is increasingly threatened with disappearance.
This is where the project comes in. Volunteers travel to the remote area by cable car and actively help preserve valuable structures. The work varies depending on the location, but usually involves clearing dry stone walls and forest edges, trimming shrubs, building small structures for mammals, planting hedges and fruit trees, and maintaining fallow meadows.
A mission that combines mountain air, vision and sustainable nature conservation
