Meadow mowing – Together for a species-rich flower meadow

Winterthur

The meadows on the Taggenberg are an important habitat for numerous insects and birds. To promote biodiversity, the meadow is mown gently with a scythe mower. The cut grass must then be raked and removed – a crucial measure for depleting the soil and increasing the diversity of flowering plants.

Your task:

  • Raking the mown grass and transporting it away

  • Promoting floral diversity and insect habitats

  • Optional: Mowing with a scythe (by arrangement, possibly with additional costs)

With your support, the meadow will become less nutrient-rich in the long term, providing more and more space for wildflowers and insects. Weasels, birds, and small animals benefit from the sustainable care of this valuable habitat. Mowing period: Meadow mowing can only be carried out between mid- and late June or between late September and late October.
