Blackberries, fine to eat, but not good for nature!

Rüti

The challenge of blackberry propagation

In this project, we are controlling blackberry plants in an ecological compensation area. The blackberry is a fast-growing plant species that forms dense stands and inhibits the growth of other plant species.

Why is this so important?

A single blackberry bush can cover an area 6 meters in diameter within two years. The blackberry's thorny shoots can also restrict animal movement and reduce plant and animal diversity, diminishing the ecological value of ecosystems.
